Which Dorm is Right for You?
Gonzaga’s on-campus housing opportunities are vast! Regardless of what kind of living community you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it at GU. This post is going to feature five of Gonzaga’s first-year residence halls, but you can find the full list of housing options online!
Coughlin Hall - Mixed gender first-year students
Coughlin is one of the newest residence halls on campus, home to most of our first-year LLC students. Referred to as “Hotel Coughlin,” it features a lobby and a classroom on the first floor, bike storage, a full kitchen on each residential floor, study rooms, a game room, and a library! This is traditional corridor-style living with 5 residential floors and a communal bathroom, common lounge room, and laundry room in each wing. Coughlin also has a covered and uncovered parking lot for students living here. Students here enjoy the many study and lounge rooms and the opportunity to live with other like-minded students.
Madonna Hall - Mixed gender first-year students
Madonna is a traditional-style residence hall for first-years with 3 floors and a basement. As you walk in, there is a first-floor lounge including a pool table, piano, TV, and vending machines. In the basement, you’ll find another lounge, full kitchen, study room, and bike storage. Students living in Madonna enjoy the perk of having a sink in their room and being the closest hall to our student center and dining hall! Madonna and CM share a parking lot on the backside of each residence hall.
Catherine Monica Hall (CM) - Mixed gender first-year students
Catherine Monica is another traditional style residence hall building for first-year students. It features multiple lounges on both of its two floors, including vending machines, ping pong and pool tables, and couches. In the basement, you’ll find a roomy lounge, classroom, and full kitchen. Each wing has a study room and communal bathroom, with laundry rooms on each floor. CM’s ring shape allows for an outside courtyard in the middle with bike storage lockers. If you want a lively and social living space, this is the residence hall for you!
DeSmet Hall - All male first-year students
Home to DJ DeSmet and located in central campus, DeSmet is an all-male traditional-style residence hall for first years. In the basement, you’ll find a laundry room, full kitchen, bike storage, and a lounge including a ping pong and pool table, couches, vending machines, and a piano. Each of the 4 residential floors has a study room and a communal bathroom. Students living here enjoy in-room sinks, walk-in closets, and being in the heart of campus.
Welch Hall - All female first-year students
Across from DeSmet Hall is Welch Hall, an all-female traditional-style residence hall for first years. Residents live on the 4 main floors, with the basement housing our campus English Learning Center. In the basement you’ll also find a student hub with games and couches, a full kitchen and dining venue, and laundry services. Each residential floor includes a kitchenette, lounge room, communal bathrooms, and study rooms. Students living in Welch enjoy the open windows and central location on campus.
