Erik Wig, Outstanding Senior of Electrical Engineering
Erik Wig receives the Outstanding Student of Electrical Engineering for 2025.
Professor Yanqing Ji, Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department noted that Erik's nearly-perfect 3.99 GPA is difficult to achieve in this degree.
"An EE degree is traditionally one of the most demanding and challenging programs in undergraduate engineering schools across the nation and our program at Gonzaga is no different. Erik's GPA in this major, along with the addition of a minor in physics, is a clear testimony of Erik’s hard work, excellent time management, and his desire to understand the underlying engineering principles," Ji said.
During his degree program, Erik has given back to university by serving as a student mentor and tutor in physics, mathematics and engineering. This service has been not only through regularly scheduled tutoring programs offered by various departments but also informally with his colleagues.
"I have personally witnessed many students before and after class discussing assignments or projects with Erik. He is very supportive to his fellow classmates," Ji said. "The ECE faculty fully expects Erik to make valuable contributions to our profession once he graduates."
Congratulations, Erik!
