Dr. Engler oversees and facilitates the creation, implementation, and enforcement of academic policies and initiatives to enhance the academic experience of students and support the work of the faculty. He assists the Provost with academic policy appeals and academically-related student concerns and serves as the Provost’s liaison to areas supporting the University’s academic mission.
More about Dr. Joseph Engler, Associate Provost
Dr. Engler joined Gonzaga in 2018 as the inaugural director of its school psychology graduate program. In this role, Dr. Engler was responsible for developing and leading the program through state level approval and national accreditation. Dr. Engler’s efforts were successful despite having to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent challenges that ensued. Upon successful program accreditation, Dr. Engler helped create and develop a Psy.D. in school psychology program prior to moving into his current role as the Associate Dean in the School of Education. As an Associate Dean, Dr. Engler has represented the School of Education on University committees and worked to develop strong community relations. He works closely with faculty and staff to create strong educational programs that meet the evolving needs of our communities.
