About the Instructor

Kara Odegard

Kara Odegard spent four years (2019 - 2022) using a collaborative leadership model to guide climate action planning for the City of Spokane. Her leadership resulted in a comprehensive climate action plan that was co-created by a large team of community stakeholders. Spokane’s plan and the process they developed now serves as a template for other municipalities developing their own climate action plans.

Kara is also the founding partner of Measure Meant, a consultancy working with organizations, tribal nations, and cities to build transformative sustainability programs through climate planning, B Corp Certification, and sustainability reporting. She is a practiced communicator, stakeholder manager, and community leader with over 25 years of experience working with multinational, national and local organizations across multiple industries and sectors. Throughout her career, Kara developed a broad skill set and a super-power for translating complex ideas into down-to-earth language and processes.

Kara holds a Master’s in Leadership for Sustainability from the University of Vermont, Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources and a BA in English from the University of Washington.
