Elementary School Outreach
For the past decade, Gonzaga University's elementary science outreach program, Science in Action!, has been teaming up science majors and pre-service teachers with local K-6 classrooms to do weekly science experiments that align with the district curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards.
What is Science in Action!
The Gonzaga SIA! program brings hands-on science activities into our local community to inspire enthusiasm and confidence in STEM in elementary students. Our program is FREE!
- We serve 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms.
- You can be served in the Fall or Spring of the school year.
- We make 8 visits over the course of the semester serving your classroom.
- A team of GU undergrad volunteers are paired with your classroom and lead the activities. Great college connections and mentorship happen in addition to STEM!
- We bring ALL the supplies to do a hands-on activity and our volunteers lead it.
- SIA! activities are aligned with SPS science curriculum themes for each grade.
