Gonzaga University is excited to celebrate 60 years of transformative education and immersive experiences with you. Below are some frequently asked questions and their responses. The Gonzaga in Florence 60th Anniversary celebration will take place May 16 to May 18, 2024, with an optional Mass on May 19.

 
The all-inclusive cost for the weekend's events is $450 per person. You are responsible for your own airfare, lodging, and airport transportation.
 

Thursday, May 16 

Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Opera House)

Piazza Vittorio Gui, 1, 50144 Firenze FI

Cocktail reception 4:30pm to 6:30 p.m. - Gallery Foyer

All guests are invited to come together for the first official night in Florence. There will be a bar of wine, beer, and sodas, along with several hors d’ oeuvres. A brief program will take place at the halfway point of the two-hour event. Attendees will pick up their registration packets and are encouraged to attend the opera performance following the reception. Business attire is recommended.

Pre-Opera Gathering: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Optional)

In a private foyer, guests are invited to learn about the opera and the history behind the story from a Gonzaga in Florence faculty member.

Performance of Jeanne Dark: 8pm (Doors open at 6pm)

Attendees may choose to redeem opera tickets and attend the opera as an included activity in the weekend. 

Friday, May 17

Gonzaga in Florence Campus Open House 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (This will be ongoing throughout the day, so feel free to come and go as you please.)

Open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with light refreshments served all day in the University of Florence garden, adjacent to the Gonzaga in Florence campus. Morning hours will feature pastries and mimosas, afternoon will feature salty snacks and Prosecco. Juice, water, and soft drinks will be available all day.

Enjoy Gonzaga in Florence mini-courses, one-hour walking tours of Florence, and self-guided tours of the Gonzaga in Florence campus and University of Florence garden. The schedule below is subject to change:

Saturday, May 18

Gala Dinner 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Palazzo Corsini

Walk the red carpet, take commemorative photos in the elegant courtyard and enjoy a luxury evening of signature aperitivos and a seated dinner. A cocktail hour with passed hors d’ oeuvres leads into a three-course dinner service with wine at the tables. A program with Presidential remarks will follow dinner.

Sunday, May 19

Mass 9:30 a.m. 

Santissima Annunziata

Attend a special mass organized for Gonzaga in Florence 60th Anniversary attendees at the Church of San Giovannino.

 

There are no planned class events. If you are interested in seeing who has registered, you can see a list of attendees who have opted to have their names published here.

 
For Thursday's events, business attire is recommended. Friday’s events are "Zag casual." Saturday evening's Gala event calls for cocktail attire. 
 
Check-in will be held at Thursday's welcome reception at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Opera House).

Yes. Registration is required for the celebration, and closed on March 15, 2024. Please reach out to gonzagainflorence@gonzaga.edu with questions.
 

Please email gonzagainflorence@gonzaga.edu to notify event organizers that you need to cancel your Gonzaga in Florence 60th registration. Refunds are no longer available. 

 
Yes, there is a Mass being planned for Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of San Giovannino, which is the first Jesuit church in Florence.
 

Yes, the building is open Sundays to Fridays. It closes at 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. Please contact the campus before arrival:
