SBA students are actively engaged in a myriad of clubs and activities throughout the university. The groups highlighted on this page specifically cater to the interests and needs of SBA students.
SBA Specific Groups
Alpha Kappa Psi is a national organization that specializes in developing business professionals. Alpha Kappa Psi has five core tenets that direct professional success through brotherhood, knowledge, integrity, service, and unity. Gonzaga’s chapter, Phi Omega, incorporates the tenants to serve and organize events for its members and the community. Phi Omega has been a part of Gonzaga since 2003 and has more than 400 alums.
DECA fosters the development of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs, equipping them for diverse career paths in marketing, finance, accounting, hospitality, and management through immersive case studies. Members actively participate in competitions at the regional and state levels to advance to national and international stages. Students are empowered to compete either individually or alongside a partner in their selected field of expertise.
First Generation Investors (FGI) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that teaches high school students the power of investing and brings classroom lessons to life by providing students with real money to invest. The Gonzaga University FGI chapter was started by two senior Hogan students, Megan Frontz and Jack Haworth.
FGI takes a near-peer approach to learning, utilizing a national network of college volunteers to teach the 8-week program to high school students. The program includes a range of investing topics such as compound interest, stocks, bonds, ETFs, etc. Upon completion of the program, each high school student is granted $100 to invest. The Gonzaga FGI chapter has been operating since Fall 2022 and is continuing to grow.
Gonzaga Sport Consulting Group (GSCG) is a student-run consultancy that shapes future zag business leaders through sports, by allowing students to help high-level sports brands with their real business problems. So far GSCG has worked with top sports brands across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, and MLS on business consulting projects covering digital marketing, ticketing strategy, data analytics, partnership strategy, customer experience, and more.
Students interested are required to apply at the start of every semester and accepted students will be assigned to teams of six students each led by a project manager. Each team will work on an 8-week-long project for a different client in the sports industry.
The Gonzaga University Investment Club is a student-led club managing a real $200,000+ portfolio. Students learn fundamentals in Financial Valuation Methodology such as DCFs and Comparable Analysis. Develops skills in financial analysis and are committed to sustainable investing practices.
Gonzaga’s New Venture Lab is an eight-week program that pairs students with local entrepreneurs to aid in the creation of a business. Students function in a group setting with students also serving as project managers. Services range from market research to idea development and business plan creation. Entrepreneurs who participate in the New Venture Lab have a myriad of different backgrounds and experiences, which helps students develop real-world skills.
The Gonzaga student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) was awarded a 2022-2023 Superior Merit Award designation for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student members.
Women in Finance Leadership and Balance (WiF LaB) is a six-session lab where students explore possibilities related to advancing women with a passion for finance. Each of the six sessions will increase participants’ confidence and potential to be successful in designing an individual pathway for personal and professional leadership in finance.
The LaB is coordinated by Linda Underwood, an executive in residence for the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration. In this role, she provides support and expertise to the faculty and students.
The LaB is open to all students at Gonzaga University.
