Our two-year master’s program in School Counseling prepares you for a career as a professional school counselor or licensed clinical mental health counselor. Our graduates have the ability to work with students, families, school staff, communities, and educational systems to cultivate communities support student well-being, opportunity, and success.
Professional Preparation
This degree program provides you with the opportunity to:
- Develop your individualized theory of counseling and professional identity through a process of critical thought, self-discovery, and personal growth.
- Learn the components and ethics of a comprehensive school counseling program as outlined by the American School Counseling Association National Model.
- Engage in meaningful professional and service experiences in practicum and internship placements in K-12 settings.
- Integrate competency-based and Washington State best practices into your practice.
- Support student achievement in the areas of personal, social, academic, and career development through interventions with individual, small group, classroom, and school wide interventions.
- Attend and present research at local, state, and national professional and academic conferences, and to advocate for the profession of school counseling.
- Graduate with eligibility for both a Washington State ESA School Counseling Certificate and an associate clinical mental health counseling license.
