What is a Career Trek?

Treks are career development and networking programs that create opportunities for you to connect with alumni and employers in key metropolitan areas across the country. As part of the Treks, you can interact with partner organizations during corporate excursions, career fairs, and networking socials.

Three images are composed in a row, with a colored overlay on each. The left image shows a line of students entering a touring bus. The center image shows over 20 students posing together in Seattle. The image on the right shows two young women sitting at a long table and listening to a speaker off camera.

Where do the Treks take place?

Treks are currently offered in cities including New York, Spokane, Seattle, Portland, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Denver. Most are offered every year, with Los Angeles and Denver alternating years each May.

What are the benefits of attending a Trek?

We welcome all degree levels and class years to attend. On a Trek, you can explore the city environment, and test out your interest in living in a particular geographic area. Explore specific organizations through the excursions, or learn about what a similar company in that industry might be like. There are lots of opportunities to chat with recruiters, alumni, and employees of specific organizations. This helps you build a network and practice important conversational skills like using your elevator pitch.

Do the Treks cost anything? What does the fee include?

With the exception of Spokane, the Treks do charge a fee for attendance. For most treks,  this fee covers meals during the trek, and transportation to and from excursion sites. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the city, as well as accommodations. Some hosting hotels offer a discounted rate for Trek attendees, and you can check if this option is offered by contacting our office.  For London and New York, the fees are higher and can include other costs, email careers@gonzaga.edu for specifics on these treks.

Financial assistance is possible for any of our treks and is based solely on students’ financial need. Please reach out to careers@gonzaga.edu to inquire whether you would qualify for assistance.

How can I register to attend?

You can sign up to attend a Trek online by signing into your ZagsIgnite profile. Registration typically opens 1-2 months prior to the event. Students must apply for and be accepted to participate in the New York and London Treks; all other Treks have an open registration process. Check out the scheduled date this year in the list below.
