The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE, pronounced 'nessie') gathers data through its student survey, The College Student Report, at hundreds of four-year colleges and universities. This survey examines the participation of first-year and senior students in various programs and activities designed to support their learning and personal growth. The findings offer an overview of how undergraduates allocate their time and the benefits they derive from their college experience.
Eligible students are undergraduates in their first or fourth year, as defined by earned credits (25.99 or less for first year students and 96 or more for fourth year students). Email invitations will be sent to students who meet the above criteria directly from NSSE. Gonzaga will administer the NSSE from February 24 - March 31, 2025. All students who participate by March 31 will be entered to win one of 109 prizes!

Additional Information About NSSE 2025
When can I take the NSSE survey?
The NSSE opens February 24 and closes on May 12; however you must submit your responses by March 31 to be eligible for the raffle prizes.
How can I access NSSE?
On February 24 NSSE invitations will be distributed via your Gonzaga email to all eligible first-year and senior students, with a unique survey link for each student. Students will receive four reminder emails (3/6, 3/19, 3/25, 3/31).
How do I know the email I receive from NSSE is legitimate?
Valid question! Gonzaga partners with Indiana University for the administration of NSSE. As a result, the NSSE survey is hosted outside of the Gonzaga web domain. NSSE invitation and reminder emails have been added to the safe sender list by our IT department.
Are there incentives for completing NSSE?
Yes indeed! In appreciation for your time and sharing your perspective and experiences at Gonzaga via NSSE, students who complete the survey by March 31 are entered into a raffle to win 1 of the 100+ prizes listed in the table above! Your chances of winning depend on how many complete the survey; the last time we administered this survey about 427 students responded.
How long does NSSE take?
NSSE is a comprehensive survey asking you to reflect on your experiences at Gonzaga. The estimated time to complete the survey is 15-20 minutes. If you’re unable to complete the survey in one session, NSSE will save your progress for later.
Are my NSSE responses confidential?
Students’ responses to NSSE are confidential. Demographic data are collected for disaggregation purposes, but personally identifiable data are not disclosed with the results.
