10 Years Stronger Together

Students in the UW-GU WWAMI Medical Education Program

Stronger Together

The University of Washington School of Medicine and Gonzaga University are partnering to prepare the next generation of health care leaders to serve Spokane and Eastern Washington.

With deep community roots, world-class medical education and research programs, and a vast network of students, faculty, clinicians and partners, our universities are working together to make a real impact to improve the health of patients throughout our region.

The Next Decade: A Vision for Regional Health

As we enter our second decade, the UW-GU Health Partnership is committed to more than just sustaining our momentum—we are expanding it. Our vision for the next ten years is built on three strategic pillars:

  • Expanding the Rural Pipeline: Increasing the number of medical students and residents trained in rural clinical sites to ensure every community in the Inland Northwest has a dedicated physician.
  • Innovating Clinical Care: Integrating the latest medical education with local clinical practice to improve patient outcomes right here in Spokane.
  • Driving Regional Prosperity: Continuing to serve as a primary economic engine, creating new jobs and attracting top-tier medical talent to our growing Health Corridor.

By 2036, our goal is to have a provider workforce that reflects the diversity and resilience of the people we serve. Together, we are building a legacy of health that will last for generations.
