Neuroscience Program
Degree: B.S. in Neuroscience
The Neuroscience major will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental principles of neuroscience, including the structure and function of the nervous system, the mechanisms underlying neural communication, and the ways in which the brain processes information and controls behavior.
- Synthesize material from different courses to address questions at various levels of analysis spanning molecular/cellular, circuits/systems, and behavioral/cognitive approaches.
- Apply scientific methods and techniques to design and conduct experiments in neuroscience, analyze data, and interpret results.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing and evaluating scientific literature and designing innovative solutions to address real-world problems in neuroscience.
- Communicate effectively about neuroscience topics, both orally and in writing, to a range of audiences, including scientific peers, policymakers, and the general public.
- Discern the ethical, social, historical and cultural implications of reviewed and proposed neuroscience research, and understand how neuroscience can impact discussions from politics to laws, education to medicine and more.
