The Hillyard Senior Center currently serves as a full service Senior Recreational Activity Center for older adults in the Northeast Community Center in Hillyard. They have been in operation since 1973 and have been a tenant of the Northeast Community Center since the building was established in 1982. They offer a full spectrum of activities, trips, classes, special events, and fundraisers, as well as fitness and health care components, arts and education, and a nutrition program. Over 500 members, as well as many other drop-in participants, utilize the facility and services. The Hillyard Senior Center clientele consists mostly of moderate to low income seniors, mainly seventy to ninety years of age. Most of their programs operate Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 3:30PM, but they also offer many day trips, overnight trips, and special events during evening and weekend hours.
