LLC FAQs

Students can apply to participate in up to three Living Learning Communities. Students are asked to rank the communities in order of first through third preference. Zags will be provided with one question to explain why they are interested in joining the communities in which they have expressed interest. If a student is applying to the Honors LLC, they will need to verify they are a part of the Honors Program. Apply on your ZagLiving portal!

  • 1st Year LLC Applicants

  • Incoming Zags are very strongly encouraged to apply soon as they submit their Housing Application through ZagLiving. Applying sooner increases a student's likelihood of being offered their 1st or 2nd choice community. There are limited spaces in each community, and there are more applications than spaces available. Application open early January of each year. The application deadline is April 17th.

  • 2nd Year LLC and Student Created Community (SCC) Applicants

  • Current 1st Year Zags that will be going into their 2nd year living on campus are strongly encouraged to apply soon as the application becomes available through ZagLiving. that date is announced on the 2nd year LLC/SCC webpage. Applying sooner increases a student's likelihood of being offered a space in your preferred community. Second Year LLCs/SCCs are hosted in Mantua Hall or similar suite-style residence hall. Applications open on November 15th. The application deadline is December 15th.

Living Learning Community residents are chosen based on the quality of their LLC application. The Living Learning Community Program has a limited number of spaces in each community. The sooner a Zag applies, the more likely they are to be admitted into their top community choices! The LLC Selection Committee cannot see any materials submitted to the Office of Admission for admission to Gonzaga UniversityWe strongly encourage applicants to be thoughtful and intentional when filling out their LLC Application as the strength of an applicant's responses to the prompts. Given the limited number of spaces, students effectively compete for the available spaces in a given LLC.

Living Learning Communities offers, wait list, and denial decisions will be emailed to students on April 24, 2026. Students who are offered a space in an LLC are required to accept the offer by May 1, 2026. Failure to respond on or before May 1st will result in the offer being rescinded.

1st Years LLC Applicants

  • Your will receive either an LLC offer, waitlist, or decline notice. Those who receive an LLC Offer Email will list what community you have been offered and will provide a timeline to accept of decline that community. Students must accept their LLC offer by the deadline in the LLC Offer Email. Students who do not accept their offer by the stated deadline will have their offer rescinded. Checking your ZagMail student email regularly after submitting a Living Learning Community Application is a critical step in the process.

2nd Years LLC/SCC Applicants

  • Once you apply to a 2nd year LLC/SCC, the LLC/SCC application review committee will read over your application responses and communicate a decision by the stated deadline. You will either receive an offer, waitlist, or decline. If you are offered a space in a 2nd year LLC/SCC, you must accept the offer to be officially enrolled in the program.  Students must reply by the deadline in the LLC/SCC Offer Email. If the student fails to accept the LLC/SCC offer by the stated deadline, the offer will be rescinded. Checking your ZagMail student email regularly after submitting a Living Learning Community/Student Created Community Application is a critical step in the process.

The Living Learning Community Program at Gonzaga provides students with exciting housing options where students can live among students with similar interests, majors, identities, and more! The Living Learning Community Program offers an intentionally stronger community experience through additional engaging events around community theme, additional community leaders for students to connect with, mentorship connections with faculty in related programs, and connections with your neighbors and floor-mates on day one within your LLCs theme!

  • LLC residents are able to select their roommate. Please note that you will only be able to select a roommate from those who have also been accepted to an LLC in/on the same floor as your LLC. The buildings and tentative floor parings are as follows:

  • Coughlin Hall 2nd Floor: Cura Personalis, Learns to Lead, People For and With Others

  • Coughlin Hall 3rd Floor: STEM, Honors

  • Coughlin Hall 4th Floor: Community for Creative Expression, Business, Health Professions

  • Coughlin Hall 5th Floor: TBD

  • Marian Hall 1st Floor: Outdoor Pursuits

  • Mantua Hall (2nd Year LLCs/SCCs only): Transfer Year Experience, Community for Creative Expression, Business, STEM, Honors, and SCCs.

  • When a bed space opens in a specific community, we work down a waitlist to offer out that bed-space to those who have been placed on a Living Learning Community waitlist. Checking your email regularly is strongly advised. Students will only be placed on one Living Learning Community waitlist. Applying early increases a students odds for not being waitlisted. If a student is still on the waitlist as of May 1st by 11:59pm, they will be moved to our general housing selection process.

Once students have accepted an LLC offer, they agree to join that LLC community. This commitment supersedes all other building and roommate preferences. Students will not be allowed to choose a different building or live on a different floor until the Room Change Period opens during the fall and spring semesters of the academic year.
