Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
As a student at Gonzaga, I grew not only academically and professionally but personally as well. I attribute this to one key word: reflection. At all times, Gonzaga encouraged me to reflect on my progress in both my studies and my character while also giving me the tools to further develop in both. This practice of reflection in addition to the Jesuit practice of cura personalis enabled me to critically evaluate how I could best improve myself in order to serve my family, my community, and my world. Having found this experience to be invaluable, I want to share it with you by encouraging you to pursue an education at Gonzaga University.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center (MWPAC). One of the newer spaces at Gonzaga, the MWPAC is where I made music and memories in both the Gonzaga Wind Ensemble and the Gonzaga Glee Club. The building itself is also a genuine work of art.
What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?
During the spring and summer, I love walking along the Spokane River. In the spring, I love seeing (and smelling) all the blooming flowers, especially during cherry blossom season. When I walk in the summer, it's warm enough that others are walking, too, so I really feel connected to the greater Spokane community.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
As with everything in life, you get out of college what you put in. There are so many new people, places, and experiences available to you in college; all you have to do is seek them out. In that light, ask questions. While your primary role on campus is to be a student, this applies to all areas of your life as well. By asking questions, you will discover the people, places, and experiences that will best help you become the person you want to be.
