Where is your favorite place on campus?

I love walking the central part of our campus, especially in the summer when the flowers are blooming and in the fall when the Maple trees turn a brilliant, fiery red. The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is another special place – located in the John J. Hemmingson Center, CGE is the home for our international community on campus and is a great place to stop in and chat with international student advisors and study abroad advisors (Did you know you can study abroad as an international student? You can!), to eat lunch with friends, to spend some time studying, or to take a study break.

What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?

I’ve lived in many cities in the U.S. and found my way back to Spokane. I love it here because of the affordable cost of living, the variety of activities that are available within a short distance of downtown, the proximity to cities like Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon, and the climate – we have all 4 seasons here, my favorite of which is our warm, dry, sunny summer! Some of my favorite things to do in Spokane are to walk the Centennial Trail, which connects Spokane to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho and goes right past campus; ice skate at Eagles Ice Arena; and eat at local restaurants with friends – preferably after a day of hiking or biking!

What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?

I have three pieces of advice!

  • Ask questions! Ask as many and as often as you need – deciding where to attend college is an important decision, and we want you and your family to make the best decision possible for you. One of my favorite parts of my job is talking to students and families, and we are always happy to help!
  • Ask to connect with people on campus so you can get a feel for what it’s like to be a student at Gonzaga – for example, you could ask to connect with current international students, current students in your field of interest, or faculty members.
  • Research scholarships early and apply for all of the scholarships you’re eligible for!
